Robert B. Laughlin (1950- )

Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of a new form of quantum fluid with fractionally charged excitations.”

American physicist. Laughlin was born in Visalia, California on November 1, 1950. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley obtained his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979. He is Professor of Stanford University.
