
Horst L. Störmer (1949- )
Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of a new form of quantum fluid with fractionally charged excitations.”American physicist. St?rmer was born in Frankfurt, Germany on April 6, 1949. He received his undergraduate education at the Goethe University received his Ph.D. from the University of Stuttgart in 1977. He was Head of the Department of Electronic Optical Properties of Solids the Director of the Physical Research Laboratory at Bell Labs. He is Professor of Physics of Columbia University.
