
Gerardus’t Hooft (1946- )
Awarded the Prize “for elucidating the quantum structure of electroweak interactions in physics.”Dutch physicist. Hooft was born in Den Helder, the Netherls on July 5, 1946. He was graduated from the State University of Utrecht in 1972, with a thesis that contained most of the work for which he would later earn the Nobel Prize. After a two year fellowship at CERN, Geneva, guest positions at Harvard (Morris Loeb) the Stanford Linear Accelerator Centre, he was appointed full Professor at Utrecht in 1976.
