Masatoshi Koshiba (1926-2020)

Awarded the Prize “for his pioneering contributions to astrophysics, in particular for the detection of cosmic neutrinos.”

Masatoshi Koshiba was a Japanese Physicist who was born on 19 September 1926 in Toyohashi, Aichi, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Rochester, New York, in 1955. He was Senior Counselor of ICEPP Emeritus Professor of University of Tokyo. Masatoshi Koshiba died on November 12, 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
