John C. Mather is an American Astrophysicist who was born on 7 August 1946 in Roanoke, Virginia, USA. He got his Ph.D. in 1974 from University of California, Berkeley. Mather is a senior astrophysicist at the U.S. space agencys (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryl.
