Yoichiro Nambu (1921-2015)

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of the mechanism of spontaneous broken symmetry in subatomic physics.”

Yoichiro Nambu was a Japanese-born American Theoretical Physicist who was born on 18 January 1921 in Fukui, Japan. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1970. He received his B.S. in 1942 D.Sc. in 1952 from Tokyo Imperial University. He was a professor at the University of Chicago. Yoichiro Nambu died on July 5, 2015 in Osaka, Japan.
