Andre Geim (1958- )
Awarded the Prize “for his work on Graphene.”Andre Geim is a Netherlish physicist originally from Russia. Born on 1 October 1958 in Sochi, Russian SFSR, USSR. He received an MSc in 1982, obtained a Ph.D. in metal physics from the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) in Chernogolovka in 1987. Currently, he is the Langworthy Professor director of the Manchester Centre for Mesoscience Nanotechnology at the University of Manchester of the Great Britain.
