Philippe Aghion (1956- )

Awarded the prize "for the elucidation of innovation-driven economic growth."

French economist. Born on August 17, 1956 in Paris, France. Dr. Aghion obtained his PhD from Harvard University in 1987. Member of the French Academy (Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques) and Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Currently serves as Professor at école Polytechnique, INSEAD, and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He was awarded half of the total prize money (jointly with Peter Howitt) for the "theory of sustained growth through creative destruction".
