Immunologist. Born on January 19, 1951 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Dr. Sakaguchi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University in 1976 and obtained his medical doctorate from Kyoto University in 1983. He was elected a Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of Sciences in 2002. Currently, he is a Distinguished Professor at the Frontier Research Center for Immunology, Osaka University.
