K. Barry Sharpless (1941- )
Awarded the Prize “for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry.”
American chemist. Born on 28 April 1941 in Philadelphia, USA. Dr. Sharpless graduated from Dartmouth College (1963) and received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1968. Dr. Sharpless is also the laureate of the 2001 Nobel Prize in chemisty. He currently holds the W. M. Keck professorship in chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute and is a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
