Syukuro Manabe (1931- )

Awarded the Prize “for the physical modelling of Earth’s climate, quantifying variability and reliably predicting global warming.”

American meteorologist. Born on 21 September 1931 in Shingu, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. Dr. Manabe received his doctorate degree from Tokyo University in 1958. Currently, he is a Senior Researcher Fellow of Princeton University.
