British mathematician，physicist and philosopher of science. Born on August 8, 1931 in y of Essex, United Kingdom. Penrose was awarded PhD for his work in algebra and geometry from Cambridge University in 1958. In 1973 he was appointed Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and he continued to hold this until he became Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics in 1998.
