Dr. Ashkin obtained his bachelor in physics in Columbia University in 1947 and then he began to work in Bell Laboratory after receiving his PhD in Nuclear-Physics in Cornell University in 1952. From 1952 to 1991, Dr. Ashkin worked in AT&T Bell Laboratory. Dr. Ashkin died on September 21, 2020 in Rumson, NJ, USA.
