Arthur Ashkin (1922-2020)
Awarded the Prize "for the optical tweezers and the application to biological systems."
American Laser Scientist. Born on Sept.2, 1922 in New York, UNITED STATES. Dr. Ashkin obtained his bachelor in physics in Columbia University in 1947 and then he began to work in Bell Laboratory after receiving his PhD in Nuclear-Physics in Cornell University in 1952. From 1952 to 1991, Dr. Ashkin worked in AT&T Bell Laboratory. Dr. Ashkin died on September 21, 2020 in Rumson, NJ, USA.
