Gérard Mourou (1944- )

Awarded the Prize "for the method of generating high-intensity, ultra-short optical pulses."

French scientist and pioneer in the field of electrical engineering and lasers. Born on 22 June, 1944 in Albertville, France, Dr. Gérard Mourou obtained his PhD degree from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 1973. He began to work in University of Rochester since 1977.
