British condensed-matter physicist. Born on September 21, 1934, Bearsden, United Kingdom, Mr. Thouless obtained his Ph.D in Cornell University in 1958. He was professor of mathematical physics at the University of Birmingham in UK and he was the retired Emeritus Professor of Washington University, USA. Mr. Thouless died on April 6, 2019 in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
