Jean Marcel Tirole (born August 9, 1953) is a French professor of economics. He works on industrial organization, game theory, banking and finance, and economics and psychology. In 1981, he received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a thesis titled Essays in economic theory, under the supervision of Eric Maskin.
