Awarded the Prize “for its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons.”

Established in 1997, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is an intergovernmental organisation, located in The Hague, Netherlands. The purpose of the organization is to implement Chemical Weapons Convention (signed in January 1993) through site inspection and it is also focusing the promotion of prohibiting and destroying chemical weapons.
