François Englert (1932- )

Awarded the Prize “for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle, by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider.”

François Englert is a Belgian theoretical physicist who was born in Etterbeek of Belgium on November 6, 1932. He obtained his Ph.D. from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and currently he is the honorable professor of VUB.
