Henrik Pontoppidan (1857-1943)
Awarded the Prize “for his authentic descriptions of present-day life in Denmark.”Denish writer. Pontoppidan was born in Fredericia, Jutland, Denmark on July 24, 1857. In 1874, he went to Copenhagen and was accepted at the Polytechnical College. After a summer trip to Switzerland, which was rich in experiences, he started writing. Pontoppidan died on August 21, 1943.
