Henrik Pontoppidan (1857-1943)

Awarded the Prize “for his authentic descriptions of present-day life in Denmark.”

Denish writer. Pontoppidan was born in Fredericia, Jutland, Denmark on July 24, 1857. In 1874, he went to Copenhagen and was accepted at the Polytechnical College. After a summer trip to Switzerland, which was rich in experiences, he started writing. Pontoppidan died on August 21, 1943.
