John Galsworthy (1867-1933)

Awarded the Prize “for his distinguished art of narration which takes its highest form in The Forsyte Saga.”

British novelist and playwright. Galsworthy was born in Kingston Hill, Surrey, near London on August 14, 1867. He was educated at Harrow and studied law at New College, Oxford. He travelled widely and at the age of twenty-eight began to write. Galsworthy died in London on January 31, 1933.
