Boris Leonidovich Pasternak (1890-1960)
Awarded the Prize “for his important achievement both in contemporary lyrical poetry and in the field of the great Russian epic tradition.”Soviet poet, novelist and translator. Pasternak was born in Moscow on February 10, 1890. He once studied at the University of Moscow and the University of Malburg. His first volume appeared in 1914. He worked as a private tutor and librarian. Later he engaged in writing and translation. Pasternak died on May 30, 1960 in Peredelkino, near Moscow.
