Charles Robert Richet (1850-1935)

Awarded the Prize “in recognition of his work on anaphylaxis.”

French physiologist and pathologist. Richet was born on August 25, 1850, in Paris. He studied medicine at the University of Paris, becoming Doctor of Medicine in 1877, Doctor of Sciences in 1878. From 1887 he became Professor of Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Paris and served on this post until his retirement. Richet died in Paris on December 4, 1935.
