Schack August Steenberg Krogh (1874-1949)
Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of the capillary motor regulating mechanism.”Danish physiologist. Krogh was born at Grenaa, Jutland, Denmark on November 15, 1874. He studied zoology at the University of Copenhagen, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1903. He spent his whole career at the university, serving as professor of animal physiology from 1916 until his retirement in 1945. Krogh died on September 13, 1949, in Copenhagen.
