Frederick Grant Banting (1891-1941)
Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of insulin.”Canadian biochemist. Banting was born on November 14, 1891 at Alliston, Ontarioa. In 1916 he took his M.B. degree at the University of Toronto and at once joined the Canadian Army Medical Corps, and served in France. In 1922 he was awarded M.D. degree. In 1923, he obtained his LLD degree at Queens and his D.Sc. degree at Toronto. Banting died on February 21, 1941 at Newfoundland.
