Willem Einthoven (1860-1927)

Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of the mechanism of the electrocardiogram.”

Dutch physiologist. Einthoven was born on May 22, 1860 in Indonesia. He graduated in 1882 and took his M.D. in 1885 from the University of Utrecht. He served as professor at Leiden life long. Einthoven died on September 29, 1927 at Leiden.
