
Edward Adelbert Doisy (1893-1986)
Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of the chemical nature of vitamin K.”American biochemist. Doisy was born in Hume, Illinois on November 13, 1893. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1914 and ’s degree in 1916, both at the University of Illinois. In 1920, he obtained Ph.D. at Harvard University. From 1919 to 1923, he worked at Washington University School of Medicine, and from 1923 to 1965, at St. Louis University, becoming emeritus professor in 1965. Doisy died in St. Louis, Missouri on October 23, 1986.
