Paul Hermann Müller (1899-1965)

Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of the high efficiency of DDT as a contact poison against several arthropods.”

Swiss chemist. Müller was born on January 12, 1899 at Olten, Switzerland. He began his career in 1916 as a laboratory assistant at Dreyfus and Company. He attended Basle University in 1919 and received his doctorate in 1925. In the same year, he entered J. R. Geigy A.G., Basle and became Deputy Director of Scientific Research on Substances for Plant Protection in 1946. Müller died on October 13, 1965, in Basel, Switzerland.
