Hans Adolf Krebs (1900-1981)

Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of the citric acid cycle.”

British biochemist. Krebs was born at Hildesheim, Germany on August 25, 1900. He studied medicine at the Universities of G?ttingen, Freiburg-im-Breisgau, and Berlin. He took his M.D. at the University of Hamburg. In 1933 he went to Cambridge, becoming Demonstrator of Biochemistry. He was Professor at the University of Sheffield in 1938. In 1954 he was appointed Whitley Professor of Biochemistry in the University of Oxford. He was a fellow of the Royal Society of London. Krebs died on November 22, 1981 at Oxford.
