Daniel Bovet (1907-1992)

Awarded the Prize “for his discoveries relating to synthetic compounds that inhibit the action of certain body substances, especially their action on the vascular system the skeletal muscles.”

Italian pharmacologist. Bovet was born at Neuchatel, Switzerl on March 23, 1907. He graduated at the University of Geneva in 1927, was awarded the degree of D.Sc. in 1929. He then worked at the Pasteur Institute in Paris later became Chief of the Laboratory of Therapeutic Chemistry of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Rome. Bovet died on April 8, 1992 in Rome.
