
Richard Kuhn (1900-1967)
Awarded the Prize “for his work on carotenoids vitamins.”German chemist. Kuhn was born on December 3, 1900 in Vienna. He was educated at the university in his native city of Vienna then at Munich, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1922. He worked at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich from 1926 to 1929, when he moved to the University of Heidelberg to serve as Professor of chemistry , from 1950 as Professor of Biochemistry. Kuhn died in Heidelberg on August 1, 1967.
