
Otto Hahn (1879-1968)
Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of the fission of heavy nuclei.”German chemist. Hahn was born on March 8, 1879 in Frankfurt, Germany. He took his doctorate at Marburg in 1901. He later became Professor at the University of Berlin, Director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Chemistry, President of the Max Planck Society. Hahn died on July 28, 1968 at Gottingen.
