
William Francis Giauque (1895-1982)
Awarded the Prize “for his contributions in the field of chemical thermodynamics, particularly concerning the behaviour of substances at extremely low temperatures.”American physical chemist. Giauque born on May 12, 1895 at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. He entered the College of Chemistry of the University of California at Berkeley, where he received his B.S. degree in 1920 received his Ph.D. degree in 1922. Then he joined the faculty of the the University of California. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Giauque died on March 28, 1982 at Berkeley, California.
