Richard Laurence Millington Synge (1914-1994)

Awarded the Prize “for his invention of partition chromatography.”

British biochemist. Synge was born on October 28, 1914 at Liverpool, Engl. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at Cambridge in 1941. In 1948, he became Head of the Department of Protein Chemistry at the Rowett Research Institute at Bucksburn, Aberdeen. He once worked at the Rowett Research Institute, at Ruakura Animal Research Station in New Zeal. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1950 of the Royal Institute of Chemistry in 1952. Synge died on August 18, 1994 at Norwich, Norfolk.
