Carl Ferdin Braun (1850-1918)

Awarded the Prize “in recognition of his contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy.”

German physicist. Braun was born in Fulda, Germany on June 6, 1850. He studied at Marburg , in 1872 received a doctorate from the University of Berlin. In 1876 he was appointed Extraordinary Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Marburg. In 1885 he became Professor of Experimental Physics at Tubingen in 1895 he became Professor of Physics at Strasbourg. Braun was made Professor of Physics at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe in 1883. Ferdin died in New York, April 20, 1918.
