Karl Manne Georg Siegbahn (1886-1978)

Awarded the Prize “for his discoveries research in the field of X-ray spectroscopy.”

Swedish physicist. Siegbahn was born on December 3, 1886 at ?rebro in Sweden. He entered the University of Lund in 1906, where he obtained his doctor’s degree in 1911. He appointed professorship at the University of Lund in 1920. In 1923 he became Professor of Physics at the University of Uppsala. In 1937 he was appointed as Research Professor of Experimental Physics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He was Director of the Physics Department of the Nobel Institute of the Academy. Siegbahn died in Stockholm on September 26, 1978.
