Paul Henri Benjamin Balluet, Baron d’Estournelles de Constant de Rebecque (1852-1924)

Awarded the Prize “for his thorough dedication to the movement for peace arbitration.”

French politician. d’Estournelles was born on November 22, 1852 at La Flèche, France. He entered politics was elected deputy for the Sarthe département in 1895. From 1904 he sat in the Senate. He took an active part in the interparliamentary international conferences was a member of the French delegation to the Hague peace conference of 1899, which led to the formation of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague. d’Estournelles died on May 15, 1924 in Paris.
