Christian Lous Lange (1869-1938)

Awarded the Prize “for his efforts in dealing with a great number of international affairs outsting contribution to the world peace.”

Norwegian historian. Lange was born on September 17, 1869 at Stavanger, Norway. He studied history, French, English at the University of Oslo received the Master of Arts degree in 1893. In 1919 he was granted the Ph.D. degree by the University of Oslo. He was appointed secretary of the committee on arrangements for the Conference of the Interparliamentary Union secretary to the Norwegian Parliament’s Nobel Committee to the Norwegian Nobel Institute. He was a delegate from Norway to the League of Nations. Lange died on December 11, 1938 at Oslo.
