Ludwig Quidde (1858-1941)

Awarded the Prize “for his long tireless efforts in the cause of peace. It is in the task of reorienting public opinion that Buisson Quidde have played such prominent roles. They have guided this work in two ries where it has been particularly difficult to accomplish, but where the need for it has been commensurately great.”

German historian. Quidde was born on March 23, 1858 at Bremen, Germany. He studied at Strasbourg Gottingen. After taking his doctorate, he devoted some years to historical writing publishing. From 1907 to 1919 he was a liberal member of the Bavarian Assembly member of the Interparliamentary Union. From 1914 to 1929 he served as chairman of the German Peace Society. He went to Switzerl when the Nazi came to power. Quidde died on March 5, 1941 at Geneva.
