Sir Norman Angell (1872-1967)

Awarded the Prize “in recognition of his a great number of written works against war on promotion of peace.”

British economist writer. Angell was born on December 26, 1872 at Holbeach, Lincolnshire, Engl. He studied at the University of Geneva for one year at seventeen he decided to emigrate to America, serving as a journalist for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat San Francisco Chronicle. When he returned Europe he became an editor of Galignani’s Messenger Foreign Affairs. He was a member of the Council of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, an utive World Committee against War Fascism a member of the Executive Committee of the League of Nations Union. Angell died on October 7, 1967, Croydon, Surrey.
