
Arthur Henderson (1863-1935)
Awarded the Prize “in recognition of his active role in the movement of disarmament.”British politician. Henderson was born on September 13, 1863 at Glasgow, Scotl. He came from a family in poverty at twelve, he became an apprentice at a foundry Works. In 1903 he was elected Mayor of Darlington later that year he was sent to the House of Commons. During 1914 to 1917, he was Chairman of the Labour Party. He also held some offices in the cabinets. Henderson died on October 20, 1935 in London.
