Lord Edgar Algernon Robert Gascoyne Cecil (1864-1958)

Awarded the Prize “for his devotion in founding vindicating the glory of the League of Nations, in the movement of international disarmament.”

British solicitor statesman. Cecil was born on September 14, 1864 in London. He graduated in 1881 at Oxford. He held successively posts in the cabinet. He was chancellor of Birmingham University rector of the University of Aberdeen. He was joint founder president of the International Peace Campaign. Cecil died on November 24, 1958 at Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
