
Cordell Hull (1871-1955)
Awarded the Prize “for devoting his entire life to the stabilization of international relations his work for the United Nations Organization.”American statesman. Hull was born on October 2, 1871, Overton y, Tennessee. He received a law degree in 1891 at Cumberl University. Elected to Congress from the Fourth Tennessee District in 1907, he served as a U. S. representative until 1931. He was elected U. S. senator for the 1931-1937 term but resigned upon his appointment as secretary of state by in1933. Hull died on July 23, 1955 at Bethesda, Maryl.
