Awarded the Prize “in recognition of what it has done in the struggle against unemployment poverty during the past fifty years.”The first specialized agency of the United Nations founded in 1919, with its headquarters in Geneva. Its three major tasks are: (1) the adoption of international labor stards, called Conventions Recommendations, for implementation by member states; (2) technical cooperation to assist developing nations (3) stard-setting technical cooperation are bolstered by an extensive research, training, education, publications program.
