Willy Brandt (1913-1992)
Awarded the Prize “for his efforts to achieve reconciliation between West Germany the nations of the Soviet bloc.”German statesman. Brt was born on December 18, 1913, Lubeck, Germany. In 1933 he emigrated to Norway as a political refugee, studied history journalism at the University of Oslo. In 1957, he was elected Mayor of Berlin. In 1964 he became President of the Social Democratic party in Germany. From1966 to 1969 he was Foreign Minister then he became Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. Brt died on October 9, 1992 at Unkel, near Bonn.
