Mohamed Anwar al-Sadat (1918-1981)
Awarded the Prize “for his achievement of a peace treaty between Israel Egypt that was formally signed in 1979.”Egyptian statesman. Sadat was born on December 25, 1918 at Mit Abu al-Kum, al-Minufiyah governorate, Egypt. He graduated from the Cairo Military Academy in 1938. In 1950 he joined Free Officers organization. He became acting president in 1970, was elected president in a plebiscite later. Sadat was assassinated to death on October 6, 1981 in Cairo.
