Menachem Begin (1913-1992)
Awarded the Prize “for his achievement of a peace treaty between Israel Egypt that was formally signed in 1979.”Israeli statesman. Begin was born on August 16, 1913 at Brest-Litovsk, Byelorussia. In 1931, he entered Warsaw University took his law degree in 1935. He became the leader of the Polish branch of the Betar youth movement in 1938, dedicating to the establishment of a Jewish state. He was head of the Likud party elected Prime Minister of Israel in 1977. Begin died on March 9, 1992 at Tel Aviv, Israel.
