Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev (1931-2022)
Awarded the Prize “for his leading role in the peace process which today characterizes important parts of the international community.”Soviet statesman. Gorbachev was born on March 2, 1931 at Privolye, Stavropol kray, Russia. He worked as a machine operator at the Stavropol Agricultural Institute in 1946 later went to the Moscow State University where he graduated in law in 1955. He joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1952. He was First Party Secretary in Stavropol, a member of the Central Committee of Communist Party, Secretary for the CCCP, a member of the Politburo of the CCCP became the General Secretary in 1985. He was elected as the president of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in 1988 President of USSR in 1990. After December 1991, President of the international Non-Governmental Foundation for Socio-Economic Political Studies, President of Green Cross International, Chairman of the Russian Un. Gorbachev died on August 30, 2022 in Moscow, Russia.
