John Hume (1937-2020)
Awarded the Prize “for his efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Irel.”Northern Irish politician. Hume was born on January 18, 1937, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He graduated from St. Columb’s College, Derry took his M.A. at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. From 1964 to 1968 he was President of the Credit Union League of Ireland. He served as Minister of Commerce in 1974. He served on Committee for Regional Planning Regional Policy in European Parliament in 1979. In 1998 he became Member of The New Northern Ireland Assembly. Hume died on August 3, 2020 in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
