Kofi Annan (1938-2018)
Awarded the Prize “for the work for a better organized more peaceful world.”He served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations. He was born on 8 April 1938 in Kumasi, Ghana. He graduated from Kumasi College of Science Technology in Economics then completed his undergraduate studies at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States in 1961. He studied at MIT Sloan School of Management earned Master of Science Degree. In 1962, he started working in the United Nations. He was appointed as Assistant Secretary-General in Peacekeeping Operations Vice Secretary General. He served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1 January 1997 to 31 December 2006. Kofi Annan died on August 18, 2018 in Bern, Switzerland.
