Jan Tinbergen (1903-1994)

Awarded the Prize “for having developed applied dynamic models for the analysis of economic processes.”

Dutch economist. He was born on April 12, 1903 at the Hague. In 1929 he was awarded Doctor of Physics at Leyden University. In 1933 he became professor at the Netherls School of Economics. From 1929 to 1945 he was Statistician for Business Cycle Research, Central Bureau of Statistics. In 1945 he became Director of Central Planning Bureau of the Netherls Government. Tinbergen died on June 9, 1994 in the Netherls.
